Isolon Block (XPE/IXPE) — archery backstop made of cross-linked polyethylene foam

Isolon Block Sport — polyethylene foam archery backstop

Block target for ranges and training: absorbs impact, resists moisture, works in both frost and heat.

Produced by hot pressing of cross-linked polyethylene foam granulate into a rectangular block. The material is used as thermal and acoustic insulation, impact energy absorber, flotation material and for sports applications (archery backstops / arrow stops). It complies with TU 2244-026-00203476-2002.

−60…+75 °C (up to +100 °C without mechanical load)

1000×1000×90 mm as per TU (commercial size – 100×100×10 cm)

Environmentally friendly, safe material

Does not absorb water and can be used as a buoyant (floating) material.

Characteristics (Sport & Stroy blocks)

Key parameters
Series / type Isolon Block — hot-pressed crumb of foamed polyethylene
Variants Sport: 1000×1000×90 mm (≈100×100×10 cm)
Stroy: 1000×1000×50 mm (≈100×100×5 cm)
Service temperature −60…+75 °C; without mechanical load up to +100 °C
Moisture resistance Does not absorb water, can be used as a buoyant material
Acoustic performance Reduces impact noise transmission and vibrations
Fire behaviour Combustible material — store and use away from open flame and intense UV
Standard TU 2244-026-00203476-2002

Mechanical properties

Structure Closed-cell, pressed PE crumb
Cushioning Effectively absorbs shocks and vibrations, recovers its shape
Strength Withstands mechanical loads (shots, impacts, pads under equipment)
Cold resistance Operates down to −60 °C without structural damage
According to TU, slight shrinkage along the edge down to ≈950×950 mm is allowed (a feature of the hot-pressing process).

Notes

  • Sport is used as an arrow stop / target block.
  • Stroy is used in construction and industry as a cushioning and insulation element.
  • Both variants comply with TU 2244-026-00203476-2002.

Storage conditions

Store blocks in covered warehouse areas with natural ventilation.
Protect from moisture, heat and direct sunlight.
Keep at least 1 m away from heaters and other heat sources.
Stacking in one or two layers on pallets is allowed, without excessive deformation.

Shelf life

Warranty shelf life — 12 months from the date of manufacture.
After expiry, blocks may only be used after testing confirms compliance with TU 2244-026-00203476-2002.

Packaging

Each block is labelled with: material type, version (Sport / Stroy), dimensions, batch number, date of manufacture.
Custom packaging or palletisation is available upon request.

Transportation

Transport in covered vehicles in accordance with general cargo regulations.
Protect blocks from moisture, dirt and mechanical damage during transport.
The consignee is responsible for preserving the product condition during transportation.

Sizes, applications and features of Isolon Block

Two standard items in stock: Block Sport 100×100×10 cm (archery backstop) and Block Stroy 100×100×5 cm (construction / industrial use). Slight edge shrinkage to approx. 0.95×0.95 m is possible (typical for hot-pressed foam crumb blocks).

Item Size Application Notes
Isolon Block Sport 100×100×10 cm Archery backstop / target High energy absorption under impact; blocks may be joined along the edges to assemble larger targets; covers / hanging systems can be added.
Isolon Block Stroy 100×100×5 cm Cushioning, pads, bumpers Hot-pressed PE-foam crumb block; used as protection in transport, vibration damping and as thermal / acoustic insulation inserts.
  • Approx. weight: ~10–14 kg for 100×100×10 cm; up to ~7 kg for 100×100×5 cm.
  • Thermal conductivity (typical): 0.045–0.055 W/m·K. Service temperature: −40…+100 °C (no mechanical load near upper limit).
  • Compression strength (typical): at 10% strain ≥0.03 MPa; 25% ≥0.05 MPa; 50% ≥0.15 MPa.
  • Technology: hot pressing of closed-cell PE-foam crumb into plates / blocks (colour shade may vary from batch to batch).

Assembly of a stand, mounting of the block and a paper target on the front side. When the centre area is worn out, the block can be rotated, the centre replaced or a second block added to extend service life.

Cutting Stroy blocks (50 mm) to required size and using them as pads between layers of equipment or goods — reduced breakage and scratches, moisture-resistant support.

Cut bumpers protect edges and surfaces during assembly and moving, absorbing impact loads and reducing vibration.
