Short answer: For EU imports of Isolon 300/500, Warmlex and Isolontape materials we provide a standard set of commercial and shipping documents, basic technical files and, where relevant, typical HS/CN codes used by importers. Final customs classification always remains the responsibility of the importer and their customs broker.

This article summarises which documents EU buyers and importers normally receive from LIRIDA-M to confirm material quality and origin for foam deliveries. It is written for purchasing, logistics and customs teams who need clear documentation for Isolon, Warmlex and Isolontape shipments.
Standard document package for foam deliveries
For insulation materials Isolon 300/500 (IXPE), Warmlex (EPE) and self-adhesive Isolontape solutions we supply a standard package of documents that links the delivered goods to a defined production batch and agreed specification.
- Contract, order or specification – describes product names, thicknesses, densities, formats, colour and acceptable tolerances, as well as agreed Incoterms and other commercial conditions.
- Commercial invoice – lists products, quantities, units of measure, unit prices, currency, Incoterms, seller and buyer details, and indicates the country of origin.
- Packing list – shows how pallets, rolls or sheets are packed, including gross and net weights, dimensions and, where applicable, batch or lot numbers used on labels.
- Material description / specification sheet – summarises key parameters of the supplied materials (foam type, density range, nominal thickness, standard widths, formats).
- Basic quality certificate or test report reference – where available, a certificate or test report number may be linked to the supplied batch to confirm that the material meets the declared parameters.
Electronic copies of commercial and shipping documents (PDF) are provided by default. Original hard copies with signatures and stamps can be discussed separately if your process requires them.
Note: LIRIDA-M provides accurate information about the supplied materials and passes on data received from the manufacturer. However, we are not a customs broker, tax adviser or certification authority. Final decisions on HS codes, VAT treatment and regulatory compliance remain with the importer and their advisers.
Technical documentation and certificates available on request
Depending on the material and project requirements, additional technical documentation may be available for Isolon, Warmlex and Isolontape products.
- Technical data sheets (TDS) – general information about material structure, density range, thickness range, typical physical properties and main fields of application.
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS) – safety information for handling, processing and storage of foam materials, aligned with the manufacturer’s documentation.
- Basic quality certificates and factory test reports – where applicable, reports from the manufacturer confirming that the batch meets internal specifications.
- General statements on composition and use – for example, confirmation that the material is based on polyethylene foam and typical application areas (floor underlays, gaskets, sealing, thermal and acoustic insulation).
- ISO and management system information – general confirmation of the manufacturer’s ISO-based quality management system, where available.
Not all documents are relevant for every product or project. If your application requires specific test methods, fire classifications or building approvals, please inform us in advance so we can check what is available or discuss possible testing options.
Typical HS/CN codes used by EU importers
For customs purposes, EU importers usually classify polyethylene foam materials based on their form (rolls, sheets, blocks, tapes) and whether they are self-adhesive.
- Foam rolls, sheets and blocks – cross-linked IXPE/EPE insulation materials such as Isolon 300/500 and Warmlex are typically classified by importers under HS/CN heading 3921 (other plates, sheets, film, foil and strip, of plastics).
- Self-adhesive foam tapes and gaskets – self-adhesive Isolontape products are typically classified by importers under HS/CN heading 3919 (self-adhesive plates, sheets, film, foil, tape, strip and other flat shapes).
These headings reflect common practice for IXPE/EPE foams and self-adhesive polyethylene tapes. Specific subheadings depend on dimensions, structure, composition and national interpretation.
— share your intended HS/CN classification with your customs broker and confirm it for your specific product and shipment;
— request draft invoice and packing list from LIRIDA-M if your broker needs to review wording before the first shipment;
— inform us in advance if your customs authorities require specific additional information or wording on the documents;
— keep copies of TDS, SDS and quality certificates with your import file for future reference.
Frequently asked questions
- Can you fix the HS code for our imports? We can share which HS/CN headings are typically used for IXPE/EPE foam rolls and self-adhesive tapes. However, the final HS code and VAT treatment for your imports must be confirmed by your customs broker and the competent authorities.
- Can we get document templates before the first shipment? Yes. We can provide draft versions of invoices, packing lists and material descriptions so that your customs broker can review and approve them before the first delivery.
