Short answer: Store Isolon 300/500, Warmlex and Isolontape in dry, closed premises, away from sunlight, chemicals and excessive heat. Use FIFO based on production dates. Detailed temperature limits are defined in the technical specifications and explained in a separate FAQ.

This article summarises official storage recommendations from technical specifications for IXPE/EPE foams and self-adhesive tapes. It explains temperature limits, winter and summer storage specifics, palletisation rules and how shelf life differs from service life in real constructions.
For insulation materials Isolon 300/500 (IXPE), Warmlex (non-crosslinked EPE) and self-adhesive Isolontape, the general storage recommendations are:
Short deviations (e.g. during transport or loading) are usually acceptable if the material is not overheated, frozen while compressed, or mechanically damaged.
Note: Minor differences in shade, gloss or surface microtexture between batches are normal and allowed by specifications as long as key parameters remain within tolerance.
Winter: the material tolerates sub-zero temperatures well. However, before installation, rolls must be conditioned at room temperature (typically 12–24 hours) to stabilise elasticity and dimensions.
Summer: avoid prolonged exposure to temperatures above +40–45 °C. Do not store rolls under direct sunlight, inside hot vehicles or in sealed unventilated containers.
Attention: self-adhesive products (Isolontape) are especially sensitive to heat. High storage temperatures may reduce adhesive strength.
It is important to distinguish between shelf life in storage and service life in finished constructions.
— Shelf life: the period during which the material retains its declared properties under recommended storage conditions.
— Service life: how long the installed system works in practice (flooring, HVAC, vibration isolation, sealing, packaging, etc.).
Typical shelf life under correct storage:
The actual service life of installed systems is usually much longer and mainly determined by design, operating temperature, loads and UV exposure.
— use FIFO (first in, first out) based on production and packing dates;
— avoid outdoor storage even in closed packaging;
— ensure rolls are stored vertically and not deformed by stacking pressure;
— keep distance from paints, solvents and oils;
— for long-term projects, confirm shelf life and storage window in advance.
