Short answer: LIRIDA-M uses batch numbers, roll or pallet labels and linked documentation to trace Isolon, Warmlex and Isolontape deliveries back to specific production batches. If you keep these numbers in your records, quality questions and claims can be analysed faster and more effectively.

This article explains how batch numbers and labels are used to support traceability for NPE (Warmlex), XPE/CPE (Isolon 300), IXPE (Isolon 500) and XPE/IXPE-based Isolontape products. It is intended for EU purchasing, logistics and quality teams who need clear links between delivered foam materials and production batches.

What information is shown on labels and documents?

Each delivery of polyethylene foam materials normally includes information on the labels and in the shipping documents that helps you trace the goods:

  • Product identification – trade name (Warmlex, Isolon 300/500, Isolontape or similar), brief material type (NPE, XPE/CPE, IXPE, EVA, PE/EVA) and basic description.
  • Dimensions – thickness, width and length of rolls, or size of sheets and tapes.
  • Density or grade – foam grade or nominal density where applicable.
  • Batch / lot number – code that links the roll, sheet or pallet to a particular production batch at the manufacturer.
  • Date information – production date, packing date or shipping date, depending on the labelling practice.
  • Supplier data – LIRIDA-M as supplier and, where relevant, manufacturer details.

Invoice and packing list typically repeat the commercial product names and quantities. In many cases they also include batch or pallet numbers so that physical labels and documents can be matched.

Note: Internal batch coding schemes are used primarily by the manufacturer and LIRIDA-M for traceability. As a buyer you do not need to decode every element of the batch number – it is enough to keep the codes visible on the labels and documents.

How to use batch numbers in your quality process

For EU importers and distributors, batch numbers are a practical tool to maintain traceability and respond quickly to customer questions. We recommend the following practices:

  • Record batch numbers at goods receipt – when new rolls, sheets or tapes arrive, register their batch or pallet numbers in your ERP or warehouse system together with the LIRIDA-M delivery reference.
  • Keep labels or photos – if labels are removed during further processing, keep the original label or a clear photo linked to your internal item code.
  • Link batches to your customers – where feasible, note which batch number was used for which end customer or project.
  • Use batch numbers in any claim – when you contact LIRIDA-M about a possible quality issue, always include the relevant batch or roll numbers and copies of labels.

This information allows us to trace the material back to the corresponding production batch, check internal records and clarify whether the issue is local, batch-related or process-related.

Good to know: When batch numbers and photos of labels are provided with a claim, most investigations can be started much faster and with fewer questions on both sides.

— keep batch or pallet numbers from labels together with your internal stock records;
— store invoice and packing list PDFs in a way that they can be linked to physical goods;
— ask your team to photograph labels before removing them during processing;
— always include batch numbers and label photos when sending any quality question to LIRIDA-M.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can you explain how your batch numbers are structured? Batch and lot codes may include information about production date, line, shift or position. These details are mainly used internally for traceability. For claims and quality analysis it is sufficient that you provide the full batch number shown on the label.
  • Can we ask you to repeat a specific batch for a follow-up order? We can check which foam grade and production parameters were used for a successful batch and supply the same grade again. However, we cannot guarantee that the internal batch code or all minor visual features will be identical.
