Short answer: Store self-adhesive Isolontape in dry, cool premises protected from sunlight, moisture and heat. Adhesives are more sensitive than foam itself: typical shelf life is 6–12 months, depending on the adhesive system and storage conditions.

This article explains how to store self-adhesive IXPE/EPE foam tapes, including temperature limits, protection from UV and moisture, and how these factors affect adhesion. The information is relevant for EU distributors and installers who handle tapes for sealing, HVAC, vibration damping and construction tasks.
The foam base (IXPE/EPE) is tolerant to freezing and long-term storage, but the adhesive layer is more sensitive to:
For this reason, self-adhesive products are stored under stricter conditions than standard foam materials.
Important: Heat is the main factor reducing adhesive performance. Avoid temperatures above +30–35 °C, especially during summer or in closed vehicles.
For Isolontape and other PE-foam tapes with acrylic or rubber adhesives:
Short-term transport at wider temperature ranges is acceptable if the rolls are not exposed to high heat or pressure and are conditioned at room temperature before installation.
The limiting factor for self-adhesive materials is the adhesive itself, not the foam base.
After this period adhesion may decrease, but the material may remain usable depending on conditions and criticality of the application.
Note: Before installation, always test tape adhesion on a small area to confirm optimal bonding.
— let the tape acclimatise for 12–24 hours at room temperature;
— clean and degrease mounting surfaces;
— ensure surfaces are dry and free from condensation;
— apply with uniform pressure;
— avoid installation under direct sunlight or onto overheated surfaces.
