This article explains how LIRIDA-M helps EU importers and distributors with HS codes and origin information for foam materials, and what remains under the responsibility of the customer and their customs broker.

Country of origin in documents

For shipments of insulation materials Isolon 300/500 (IXPE/XPE), Warmlex (EPE) and self-adhesive Isolontape solutions we can indicate the country of origin based on the manufacturer’s information.

  • country of origin is usually shown in the commercial invoice and/or packing list;
  • additional confirmation (for example, a letter on the manufacturer’s letterhead) can be discussed for larger projects or specific tenders;
  • Certificates of Origin may be issued on request and subject to agreement.

Note: formal recognition of origin for customs purposes is always made by the importer and the relevant customs authorities in the destination country.

HS codes and customs classification

LIRIDA-M works with polyethylene foam and related products and can share the HS codes that are typically used for IXPE/XPE and non-crosslinked PE foams in our practice. However:

— the final HS code classification must be confirmed by your customs broker or customs authority;
— different destinations may apply different interpretations or subheadings;
— special processing, lamination or conversion may change the applicable code.

Important: LIRIDA-M is not a customs broker or tax advisor. We provide information based on our experience and documentation, but we cannot give binding customs or VAT advice.

What EU importers usually receive

For export shipments to the EU, our customers typically receive:

  • commercial invoice with product description, quantities, prices, Incoterms and country of origin;
  • packing list with pallet/roll breakdown and weights;
  • contract or purchase order references;
  • information on HS codes used in our practice (if requested);
  • additional origin confirmation or certificates, where agreed in advance.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can you guarantee that a specific HS code will be accepted by EU customs? No. Only the importer’s customs broker and the customs authority can make a binding decision.
  • Can we receive a Certificate of Origin? In many cases it can be arranged on request. Please confirm this when discussing terms and documents for your shipment.
