Short answer: Many customers use Isolon and Warmlex foams in decor, hobby and DIY projects, and some manufacturers produce pet beds or play elements based on PE foams. LIRIDA-M supplies only technical foam materials, so hygiene, safety and design of finished products remain the responsibility of the brand or end user.

This article explains how Isolon and Warmlex are used in practice for pet-related products, interior decor and DIY, and where the responsibility of the material supplier ends and the responsibility of the finished-product maker begins.

Typical “unusual” uses

Based on customer feedback, closed-cell PE foams like Isolon and Warmlex can be found in:

  • soft pads and inserts for pet beds, houses and carriers;
  • decorative panels and wall elements for events or interiors;
  • play and hobby projects – costumes, props, model making;
  • protective edge and corner covers in workshops or garages.

In all such cases, foam is only one of the components; fabrics, coatings, fasteners and overall design also play an important role.

Note: We do not manufacture ready-made pet products, toys or furniture. LIRIDA-M supplies foam materials to B2B customers for further processing.

Pets, claws and cleaning

From a practical perspective:

  • foam is resistant to many light mechanical impacts but can be damaged by sharp claws or teeth;
  • closed-cell structure does not absorb liquid like sponge, but the surface can be scratched;
  • for pet beds and similar products, washable covers are usually used to ensure hygiene.

If you design products for pets or children, all safety, cleaning and wear questions should be addressed at the level of the finished product (fabrics, stitching, covers, fastenings), not only the foam core.

Responsibility and regulatory aspects

— LIRIDA-M can provide technical information and basic safety data sheets for foam materials;
— we do not certify final products for pets, children or medical use;
— compliance with local regulations on pet products, toys and furniture lies with the brand owner or manufacturer;
— DIY use at home is always at the discretion and responsibility of the end user.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is foam safe if my pet chews it? Foam is not intended as food or chew toy. Any such situations should be avoided and supervised by the owner.
  • Can I use foam as visible wall decor? Technically yes, but protect it from UV, heat and mechanical damage, and follow fire safety rules for interior design.
